Double Oak is a small residential town in Denton County, Texas, located about 10 miles south of Denton. The town officially became incorporated on May 25, 1974, fulfilling James F. "Bill" Brittain’s vision of creating a tax-free municipality. Double Oak covers approximately 2.5 square miles and is primarily composed of single-family residences with a minimum lot size of one acre.
